Spiced Lemon Turkey

Spiced Lemon Turkey – If you’re looking for a delicious meal that is healthy, light on calories, and fairly allergen free…this is a great meal!

The dish in its entirety is served along with a Lemon Thyme Basmati rice side.  I typically serve the meal with the Turkey on top of the Rice and a second side of veggies, such as;steamed or roasted asparagus and/or Sautéed Spinach Salad similar to an old My Fit Foods meal…but BETTER! Enjoy! I know I do!


Ingredients

  • 2-3 tbsp butter
  • 1 1/4 lbs. ground turkey
  • 1/2 minced sweet onion
  • 2-3 minced garlic cloves
  • Lawry’s seasoned Salt or sea salt to desired taste
  • 1 1/2 tsp Creole Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 small whole dried red chili pod, seeded and crumbled or minced finely
  • pinch crushed red pepper flakes
  • generous pinch cayenne pepper
  • fresh squeezed lemon juice (1/2 lemon)
  • Zest from half of a lemon

Directions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter.
  2. Add onion and sauté until transparent.
  3. Add garlic and sauté another minute.
  4. Add ground tukey.
  5. Add salt, creole seasoning, garlic powder, crumbled pepper, pepper flakes, cayenne, lemon juice and zest. Stir to combine and continue cooking until turkey is browned 8-10 minutes.
