Garlic Lemon Butter Steelhead Trout or Salmon dish. Easy, healthy, and delicious meal, your tastebuds and anyone you cook for will thank you.
I haven’t cooked fish in ages and figured it was time that ended. After some searching around I found a version of the recipe below through Yummly. The only changes involved kicking up the amount of a couple ingredients.
Some research found that Steelhead Trout was a good option that’s fairly interchangeable with Salmon. It’s a rather healthy fish and technically healthier than Salmon when looking at the fat and calorie content. The consensus seems to be that both are good for different reasons. Eat trout for Vitamin D and Salmon for Vitamin A. On a conservation note, it might be worthwhile to consider more Salmon, but that’s based on one article I read regarding lower Wild Steelhead Trout populations. 🤷‍♀️
If you find some responsibly acquired and sold trout, and follow the recipe…it comes out buttery and melty delicious. So there’s that…lol


Ingredients

    1 lb Steelhead Trout or Salmon (skin removed)
    3 Garlic Cloves, minced or pressed
    1/2-1 Lemon juiced
    3-4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted
    Sea Salt to taste
    Cracked Black Pepper to taste

Items needed: Aluminum Foil


Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. Place fish in large single piece of foil (large enough to be able to seal it closed, but don’t seal it yet).
  3. Season fish with salt and pepper (and any other desired seasoning, but it’s really not necessary).
  4. Top fish with garlic spread out, lemon juice, and finally the melted butter.
  5. Seal foil as a foil pocket with some room over the top of the fish.
  6. Place the foil pocket in the oven and cook for 15 minutes.
  7. Carefully open the foil so the fish is exposed and that the foil sides are low enough to place back in the oven. Watch the sides and be careful not to spill the liquid!
  8. Place back in the oven for 5-7 minutes.
  9. Remove and enjoy!!!! It should melt in your mouth.

Goes great with spinach sauté, Lemon Thyme Basmati Rice, and some Southern Okra! YUM!!!!
